Index format problem

Hello Lout Users,

We have just noticed a difference in our indexes from June 2010, March 2011, and January 2012.

June 2010:
Lout 3.31
Lout code: " @IndexTypeOrdinary        { O-{@PageNum}          }"
Three columns of entries,
each like " ACADEMIC AFFAIRS. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  O-22"
where the "O-22" and all the other entries are right justified in each column.

March 2011:
Lout 3.31
Lout code: " @IndexTypeOrdinary        { 10s @Wide { O-{@PageNum} } }"
Three columns of entries,
each like " ACADEMIC AFFAIRS. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . O-22"
where the "O-22" and all the other entries are left justified in each column.

January 2012:
Lout 3.39
Lout code: " @IndexTypeOrdinary  { 10s @Wide { O-{@PageNum} } }"
Three columns of entries,
each like "ACADEMIC AFFAIRS. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , O-22"
where the ", O-22" and all the other entries are left justified in each column.

I found on page 62 of the User Guide for 3.36:
"... Nothing will be printed there, but the object following
the @Index symbol will be placed in the index, with a comma and the correct page number
appended automatically."

I am trying to track down how the comma got back.
I am not worried about the justification right now. I can experiment on that.

I wonder if the c code that creates an index entry has changed or something I have missed in bookf or dsf between 3.31 and 3.39.

Please let me know if you have any information on where in the code and/or library is the rule from page 62 above.
