Jeff saying he's not maintaining Lout any more doesn't say anything about the validity of any new authoritative repository. Also, one person creating a new repository and another saying they liked that this new repository exists is not a proper sign of general consensus in the community of users that this new repository is now authoritative. So, the fact that the original author did "unexpectedly" produce a new release or two should not really surprise anyone!
