Re: aede-policy vs. new years

As long it contains the last year it was copyrighted any of those
forms is ok... if it is 2010-2013 that just serves to establish a
documentable development history in case some claims your infringing
but claims there work is after your first date... namely if I claim
you copied my TheNextKillerClass.java and that I made it in 2011 but
you have 2010-2013 then you can legitimately claim (provided you can
produce verifiable copies of pre-2011 versions) your not infringing
and matter of fact I am the one infringing... If you only have 2013
and not 2010-2013 and I have a legit notice of 2011 then my claim
trumps yours...

Note to Peter:  In the US unless you have "Copyright (C) 2013 foo inc.
All rights reserved." then I am free to make as many copies as I want
without your permission as long I maintain the original copyright
notice and make no claim of authorship.   You're free to put anything
you want in the "All rights reserved" clause for example book
publishers often say something like "All rights reserved.  Small
excerpts for review and/or academic purposes are permissible withour
permission of the copyright holder(s).   No other reproduction is
allowed without the written permission of the copyright holder(s)."
[most of them also specify that they mean both paper and electronic
reproduction]  It is my understanding (my attorney had no comment on
this part) that FOSS handles this by the copyright notice specifically
referencing the FOSS license in question.   For example "Copyright (C)
2013 foo, inc. May used only under the terms enumerated in the GNU
Public License Version 3 (GPLv3), [URL of GPLv3]"
