That makes it sound more likely to be confusion about the circumstances of
the "bug".  For instance, maybe the reporter thought there were only backup
log files in that directory, but for whatever reason there happened to be a
real one too -- tla deletes it after committing, after all, so it's hard to
verify the pre-commit state after committing.
