Setting Up Proxy Server Authentication

We have installed Bitkeeper on a Windows 2000 that is behind a 
 firewall requiring user name and passwd to be entered when accessing 
 http. We configured the environment to pick up the proxy server:

   set http_proxy=<proxy address>

 and then run the commands  at this step

 	We were expecting request for a username/passwd as the proxy server 
 will not allow access without such auditing. Please explain what is 
 happening here and how we might configure bitkeeper to allow entry of 
 proxy username/passwd.
