can "bk diffs" be applied to a subtree?

i've got a bk project which has a number of edits scattered
throughout several directories. i'd like to encapsulate these changes
as a set of (reasonably) independent unified patches based on their
subdirectory locations, but it's not clear i can do that with "bk
diffs".

for convenience, i'd like to generate these patch diffs always
relative to the top of the tree. hints?
