Larry Jones pointed out that I overreacted to your #ifdef _SCO_VERSION_ 
when I jumped into configure, so I just updated lib/system.h and 
diff/system.h to hold more generic #ifdefs, if you wouldn't mid testing 
once more.

I do feel the need to point out that the configure.in change was in a 
single location while this requires changes to two files, though.  :)
