CVS - Limitation on # of Repsoitories

I have been told that there is a limit to the number of repositories you can have - somewhere around 300. If this is in fact true, is it an inetd or xinetd limit and is there an easy way around the limit? We are on CVS 1.12.12, though we also use CVS 1.11 due to some Eclipse limitations that I won't go into. Can someone either confirm or deny this rumor? Thanks, Gumby.
