It sounds a little like you don't know much about CVS. Please spend some money on a good book, and spend some time reading it. I can recommend 'Essential CVS' which I didn't write, and 'All About CVS' which I did have a hand in writing (but that is mostly about CVSNT, which despite the name does run on HPUX).
