CVS lock issue

Hello CVS community,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to shed a little light on what may =
have caused a problem I encountered.

We are using RHEL Workstation 7.3 and CVS version 1.11.23.

One of our developers was tagging a module when the error occurred.  Here i=

cvs [tag aborted]: could not open lock file `<path>/,<filen+2>.cc,`: File e=
xists

How is it possible that the ,<filen+2>.cc, lock already existed?
