Wincvs not responding

Yesterday my pc crashed and rebooted for no apparent reason.
Ever since wincvs has stopped working.

I was using 1.2, have tried uninstall, reinstall, including with latest
milestone release 2.0.2.4

All now have same problem !

Wincvs appears to start ok, tip dialog comes up.
Click close it goes away ok leaving main GUI window,
All looks ok but click on anything and it hangs
and windows says "Not Responding"

After a clean install it prompts for CVS root etc ok but when you
click ok it hangs again.

Any ideas?
corrupt dll ?

If I downloaded the source could I do a static build ?
