Out of interest, why do you think that you need to pay thousands in
support fees? Many of us are just using the open source version and
paying nothing - and maybe feeling a bit guilty about it at times! The
level of support from the group is very good indeed - probably too
good to persuade many of us to move to paid-for support. In any case
the software is now really very stable and robust, so it's more a case
of education of the users in the best practices of version and
configuration management and how to use the tools, and there are books
and training courses etc. for that.

Other than that, I would definitely feel that going to plain cvs from
CVSNT is a real backward step in functionality. Think carefully about
how much you are throwing away, and what you think you are gaining.

How precisely do you propose to save money by going to plain CVS? Even
if you factor in some monthly support fees for CVSNT, the real cost of
time and effort just to do the backwards transfer and downgrade to
plain CVS will probably cost more than a year's support.

Just my thoughts...
Tim
