At last, the long-awaited final stable release 1.4.0 is available.
The TortoiseCVS team would like to thank all those people who have given
us feedback on the numerous Unstable and Release Candidate versions.
The complete list of improvements relative to 1.2.2 is too long to list
in its completeness, but let me draw attention to a few highlights:
- Translation: Currently available languages include German, French,
Russian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Dutch. Please note: There might still
be small glitches in the translations, as the translators have not
always been able to keep up with all tweaks to the code. This will be
rectified in due time.
- Documentation: A proper User Guide is now available.
- Stability and performance: The infamous Explorer crashes are now a
thing of the past, and the overall performance is better.
- Configurability: You can now easily choose different icon overlays,
enable/disable TortoiseCVS on specific folders, etc.
- More features: New Conflict Resolution engine, intelligent handling of
unchanged files when committing, merge directly from History dialog,
support for :sserver: protocol, and much more.
As always, get the file from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=48103
Note: To avoid possible problems due to installing over older versions,
the installer for 1.4.0 forces you to uninstall the old version before
installing the new one.
We apologize for the inconvenience; it will not be necessary to do this
when installing future versions over 1.4.0.
