damaged repository recovery from user computers

Hi,
We had a fatal crash of a raid server and its backup, so we lost a large po=
rtion (not all of the cvs repository).
We have all the user machines at the most current level.
In some cases the users had not committed at the last time we had the repos=
itory backed up, but since did commit so there are directories in the repos=
itory but not files. In other cases we have lots of commits, they are just=
missing the commits since the last time there was a backup.
Now we want to tell the CVs repository that users workstations are the late=
st version and to commit the current version to the repository.
When we try to do the commit the systems comes back with "there is nothing =
to commit"
Is there a way to get the repository back in synch with user computers?
