I have no opposition to the idea in principle, save for the implication that I'd need to maintain now both a Subversion repository and a Git branch. Merging isn't any trouble for me in Subversion, so there's no immediate benefit to me there. But if someone wanted to organize a Git repository for unofficial ViewVC tweaks, I certainly can't prevent that. My only real concern (which is a general concern about all distributed version control setups, and is admittedly swimming in a lack of personal experience) is that the notion of "the official ViewVC distribution" will become clouded. It's time-consuming enough to field bug reports on code I currently maintain without having to also deal with bug reports on code I *don't* (that came from some random Git branch). -- C.
