IMHO the GUI mode was a good way to get people started without
too much hassle.  But I must admit that I never tried it with SVN (or 
to be more precise: with anything else instead of CVS).

So it might be, that the GUI has indeed become somewhat broken due
to all changes in ViewVC that were made after the time I wrote this
tiny Tkinter GUI pieces.  I didn't had the time to maintain it (and
probably will not have it soon).  I also think that our Company will
not go to SVN at all: Most likely we will move from CVS directly to
mercurial which has its own HTTP-interface built in.  (but not too
soon, since our people are accustomed to the look and feel of ViewVC).
