Georgi, thanks for much for information and patch.  I'm a bit torn as to
what to do with it.  See, the ViewVC 1.0.x is pretty much in a mode where
I'm only releasing critical updates for it.  Further complicating things is
that ViewVC doesn't really have a place to cache information like "what
version of highlight is installed", so either I'd need to make that
something the admins configured in viewvc.conf or ViewVC would need to run
'highlight --version' and parse the output prior to every invocation of
highlight for doing real syntax highlighting.

The patch wouldn't apply to newer ViewVC release streams.  ViewVC 1.1.x has
been out for 1.5 years and doesn't use 'highlight' (or 'enscript', or
'py2html', or ...) at all.  It uses the Pygments Python package for all
syntax highlighting.
