Nothing unusual as far as I know - CentOS 5.3 server, running Apache 
2.2.3 as the user 'apache'. Subversion 1.6.1 obtained by installing the 
"Summersoft" RPMs available at 
http://summersoft.fay.ar.us/pub/subversion/1.6.1/rhel5/

I added a line of debug in the annotation exception handler that printed 
the value of cfg.options.svn_config_dir - it was as configured in 
viewvc.conf, a directory the 'apache' user can read/write to.
