ViewVC users: I don't typically do mass notification of bugs, so please forgive the intrusion, but the recently released ViewVC 1.1.3 introduced a regression into the standalone.py server that pretty much causes it to be unusable. Details of the problem and its resolution are recorded here: http://viewvc.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=445 As you'll see therein, I've committed some changes which fix the bug for what I assume are most users of ViewVC. At a minimum, that fix will be in the 1.1.4 release. For those that can't wait, you can of course roll back to 1.1.2, or you can apply the patch which is available via the issue tracker URL above (if it is applicable to you).
