Excellent, thanks – that worked perfectly! Oh, and Happy New Year all, that’s certainly a good start to it. Regards, Phil From: C. Michael Pilato [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 27 December 2010 05:13 To: Phil Jeary Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [viewvc-users] Error with remote Subversion repositories Phil, sorry for the delayed response. You've found a bug in some ViewVC compatibility code. If you examine the source code to ViewVC, the file /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/vclib/svn/svn_ra.py has a section of code that looks like this: def client_log(url, start_rev, end_rev, log_limit, cross_copies, cb_func, ctx): try: client.svn_client_log4([url], start_rev, start_rev, end_rev, log_limit, 1, not cross_copies, 0, None, cb_func, ctx) except NameError: # Wrap old svn_log_message_receiver_t interface with a # svn_log_entry_t one. ... See that "except NameError:" line? I'm not able to verify this at this time, but I think based on your traceback that that's wrong, and should instead be "except AttributeError:". If you are able to make that small change to the code on your system, this should cause ViewVC to -- upon detecting that your Subversion Python bindings don't have the svn_client_log4() function (because it's new to Subversion 1.5.0) -- fall back to using svn_client_log2() instead. The following is the svn_roots config I’m using. svn_roots = API Layer: /usr/local/subversion/repos/core, Web layer: /usr/local/subversion/repos/web, Offshore Web: https://web-svn.ourrepositoryurl.co.uk/web, Test API: svn://ourserver.us.local/core The top 2 work fine. The 3rd is the one I planned to get working. It’s on a totally separate server. On the server viewvc is on, if I run svn info https://web-svn.ourrepositoryurl.co.uk/web the info is returned fine, so the server can see it. The python standalone task is running as the same user as I ran the svn info command with. It returns the error above. The last is the url address of the first (API Layer) in the svn_roots list. As the file path for it works fine in viewvc I thought it would be a good test to rule out any inter-server communication problems. If I run svn info svn://ourserver.us.local/core it also returns the correct info. However, viewvc returns the same error above. Would anyone know what might be wrong? Also, are there any logs elsewhere where I might be able to get more info? I’ve never used apache before so I don’t really know what I’m looking for. Kind regards, Phil -- C.
