[viewvc-users] cvsdbadmin does not parse commits

Set up ViewVC 1.1.9 on a Debian Squeeze system successfully. However, running cvsdbadmin produces "0 commits" for all the files. I have RCS installed from the debian repo. Also, if *use_rcsparse* is used then the commits are parsed correctly. Is there something different in the RCS that debian uses?
