BMP is not (or was not at the time of coding) considered a web-ready image
format like JPEG, GIF, and (now) PNG are. Rather than present you with an
HTML image wrapper and what would reasonably be expected to display as a
"broken image link", ViewVC treats image non-web-ready image formats like
any other binary file.

The default_file_view setting is intended only to change the view that
ViewVC choose when you refer to a file by its URL and with no other
view-dictating CGI parameters (such as the "view=" parameter).
