Thanks so much for your report.

I've been trying to help a guy debug a problem all week long that seemed
like a one-off case, but maybe yours is a similar problem.  Unfortunately,
I'm still trying to debug the first report, so I don't have a quick answer
for you.  I will, however, reply back with anything relevant that I find.

In the meantime, it would help me if you could share the uncommented lines
from your viewvc.conf file (feel free to anonymize any sensitive data
therein, of course).

I use a command like the following to get this info:

   $ grep -v -e '^\(#\|$\)' /path/to/viewvc.conf
