Hrm.  I can't think of any reason why whitespace would be rendered
differently in Firefox 33.0.  I'm able successfully view a local ViewVC
1.1.5 installation using Firefox 33.0 (Ubuntu Linux), in fact.  Have you
tried clearing out your browser caches?

As an aside, an upgrade to 1.1.22 should go pretty smoothly should you
choose that route, so long as you've not tried to customize ViewVC's
code or templates.  But I don't think it will solve your immediate
problem unless it just happens to do so incidentally.
