Tom,

It's possible that ViewVC is being invoked with a different Python
interpreter than the one you get when you manually run 'python' in a
shell.  Does your system have multiple versions of Python installed?  Are
you running ViewVC in CGI mode or via mod_wsgi or mod_python?
