Really the TRACE routine should be fast enough (maybe even an inline to check level with tracelevel) so that we can have as much tracing as we want. Some of the tracing that is being removed has been here for years and some was added by Tony and some was recently added by me to make it easier to compare 2.5.03 and 2.5.04 traces to each other - better to keep them in sync.
