At first I thought this was just due to threading - but it is also that when threading is disabled then xmlFree() is just #defined to free() which is dynamically loaded through the c-runtime. HPUX has a fit if you try and mix dynamic and static libraries this way (app->sharedlib->staticlib is OK), so I'm defining a nice xmlHPUXFree() function in libxml instead.
