Second, probably good to root-cause the original incident:

Is there anything special about that disk?  (Is it a network filer,
for example?)

Did you force a restart while the disk was thrashing?  If so
that's probably what trashed the db.

Any idea what the server was doing during that period?  Do you have
maxresults/maxscanrows limits set that are sane relative to your repository size
and hardware specs?
