Posted on behalf of forum user 'Sambwise'. To be clear, when you say "server", do you mean a Perforce server, or do you mean a set of files that's used by some other kind of server (e.g. a build server or web server), but that might potentially be managed by a single Perforce server? Frequently an installation that acts as a "server" with respect to your customers is a "client" in Perforce's topology, so it's important to distinguish which you're talking about. In terms of read/write capabilities, knowing more about the requirements would be helpful for someone trying to propose a solution. Is it safe to assume network connectivity between the sites? Do the two sites work on the same set of files equally, or does each site "own" a somewhat distinct body of data and make the bulk of the writes to it even though both sites read all of it (a classic example would be having different modules composing a single product where each module is owned by a particular team in a particular location)? What sorts of operations do you anticipate being bottlenecks that will need to be optimized? Even a vague description of what you're working on would help suggest answers to some of these questions. How big is the team, are you currently using Perforce at all, what kind of product are you developing/deploying, etc...? -- Please click here to see the post in its original format: http://forums.perforce.com/index.php?/topic/5527-mirroring-a-server-with-p4v _______________________________________________ perforce-user mailing list - [email protected] http://maillist.perforce.com/mailman/listinfo/perforce-user
