Hi,

I am not sure of the technical details that require the P4V installer to work in
this way.

However, the binary used to provide DVCS on your local machine is exactly the
same as the binary that is used to setup a remote server, or a test system
running on your local machine.

You will have access to all of the features of the Helix Server, regardless of
whether the server is recognised by P4V as for use with DVCS features.

If you want the server on your local machine to use an IP address or hostname
for P4PORT, you can change the value set in its '.p4config' file to
match the P4PORT you want to use.

You will then have to navigate to the rood directory of the personal (DVCS)
server, and start it specifying the P4PORT value you want.

By default DVCS uses the RSH hack to facilitate communication between the client
and server.

Hope this helps,
Jen!
