Hi,

This is an update to let you know that the shelving issue referred to in this
post was fixed in the 2015.1 Release of P4D:
  #1045565 (Bug #78497) **
Promoting a shelf, then subsequently deleting it, using the same
network connection to the Edge Server could fail to properly
delete the shelf.

Also in the case where archive files are to be shared between the master and
replica, 'shared' and 'ondemand' produce the same result.

However, there are cases where the archives are not shared and it may be
desirable to only retrieve them when a user requests them.

This is why the two different configurables exist.
