[p4] Problem with connecting as a new user

It may be permissions on your ~/.p4tickets file or something else changing that
.p4tickets file.

Set P4V to Edit, Preferences, Connections, Open the connection specified by your
Perforce environment settings

Then set a P4TICKETS location.

export P4TICKETS=/home/<user>/perforce

where directory /home/<user>/perforce exists

Then start P4V with this environmental variable set

p4v &

See if specifying a place for P4TICKETS helps.
