   In short: taking out "set -e" works (as does the latter suggestion).

As you can see from the URL (where Paul Eggert suggests the fix back in
June), glitches under Solaris are not a new phenomenon (likewise, my
foolish ignorance of his good advice!).

If you find any other problems, please do not hesitate to report them.
I will wait a few weeks and release 5.9.2 (maybe end of November).
