   Is there any way to check that stdin is not "closed"?

I found =E2=80=98test -t FD=E2=80=99.  If you add:

 test -t 0 && echo STDIN OK

prior to the =E2=80=98if timeout ...=E2=80=99 (say, at line 43), what do you
see?  I see "STDIN OK" in t632.d/out, as expected.
