When a crazy new inexplicable bug is reported, the mind
does strange things. By the time I got to the bottom
of your note, I found myself thinking that this bug was
somehow correlated to the presence of kangaroos. :-)

(sigh) We'll look into this. Thanks.

Subject: [vault-list] Uninstall vault kills IE

I uninstalled the trial version of the Vault Client 1.2.3 this morning - in
order to have a look at the 2.0 preview.

I then uninstalled the 2.0 one and didn't get around to reinstalling the
1.2.3 release again. All day I was recieving the following errors:

1. In IE 6 if I chose "Edit > Find" I would recieve an error about
"Interface Not Registered"
2. In IE 6, any windows that were opened by JavaScript would result in an
error about object not being defined.

This afternoon I tried to resolve this by reinstalling the Windows XP SP1A
but that failed to help, I then remembered that I had uninstalled the Vault
program this morning so I reinstalled the 1.2.3 client - the problem is now
fixed.

Either this is an isolated occurence or you might want to have a look at
your installation routine. (But don't feel bad, the installer for our
application (also an MSI file) would cause this exact error for a few months
until we figured out what it was - the ChartFX mergemodules - but I don't
think they are in Vault :) )

Just thought I would let you know. But of course nobody ever *uninstalls*
vault do they :)

My configuration might help:

Windows XP SP1A
Visual Studio 2003
Visual FoxPro 8 SP1
Crystal Reports 9.2
Visual SourceSafe 6.0d
Office 2003
SQL Server Developer Edition 2000 SP3a
ActiveSync 3.7

Best regards,
