And I thought I knew basically everything about SourceSafe. :-) No, Vault does not handle this case, sorry. If SourceSafe handles it, then we should. I'll log it our database for the future. In the meantime, I apologize for the tedium. :-) -- Eric Sink Software Craftsman http://software.ericsink.com/ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Hans Merkl Sent: Wednesday, February 18, 2004 3:28 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [vault-list] How to add files recursively to an already existing directory structure? Eric (like reading your articles, good stuff!), That works fine if the folder to be added is not in Vault already. If it's there already, I'll get an error. This is my scenario: I have a website with an image gallery. This image gallery has lots of sub-folders and I want to store the whole folder hierarchy in Vault. When I add pictures to the gallery, it could be that I add images to existing folders or I create new folders (or even delete some). In SourceSafe, I'll just add the root folder again and it will create the folders that are not in SourceSafe and it will add images that are not in the repository already. Can Vault handle this scenario? It would be very tedious to add folder by folder. I may be misunderstanding your question, but here's a response: Just right-click on the folder where you want to add the new files. Select the Add Files menu item. This will bring up a dialog box which you can use to add new files into the folder you selected. This dialog also lets you recursively add folders as well. Just select a folder in the left and click the Add button on the right, and it will appear in the list of stuff to be added at the bottom of the dialog. -- Eric Sink Software Craftsman http://software.ericsink.com/ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Hans Merkl Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2004 10:09 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [vault-list] How to add files recursively to an already existing directory structure? How can I add files to an already existing directory structure? The new files are in several sub directories. I have tried status search for status "missing" but I can't find a way how to add the found files to Vault. Is that possible? _______________________________________________ vault-list mailing list [email protected] http://lists.sourcegear.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vault-list _______________________________________________ vault-list mailing list [email protected] http://lists.sourcegear.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vault-list
