Yes, Max, you are right. Feel free to commit with abandon. Greg, I'm sorry I haven't been more responsive to your work. If you were one year old and crying for food (like the other person competing for my attention) then you'd have hopefully been getting a better response :-) Max seems to have both more energy and more familiarity with Mercurial, so hopefully he will be able to help shepherd your patches into the project (thanks, Max!).
