cvs2svn terminates and hangs

I am using cvs2svn on RHEL 5.
After running for 13 hours my conversion just hangs and terminates with no =
error. It says that
it is flushing a cache.
I let it sit there for about 8 hours and give up. =C2=A0 Why does it stop h=
ere ?????

this 'flushing cache' =C2=A0message does not even confirm if pass #1 even c=
ompleted correctly.
the basic command I use is:
$cvs2svn =C2=A0-vv =C2=A0--dumpfile=3D/ep/cvs_arch/mpArch/HNonly_cvs2svn.du=
mp --encoding=3D'utf8' --encoding=3D'latin1' --encoding=3D'ascii' ./repo1
I can convert other smaller cvs projects with no problem. =C2=A0In this ins=
tance I am trying to convert one giant
project that has almost 14 years of cvs-commits. =C2=A0My server is not run=
ning out of ram either. I checked
There are no erros in the /var/log/messages file either.
