Yes, I have tried this modification on the RapidSVN repo. In flat mode, it takes about four seconds to generate the view. But I think this is an important feature to have - it quickly shows sources in your repo that are missing the native EOL style and inconsistencies in file mime types.

So optimization to decrease this load time, and/or the option to turn it off, I think would be useful.
