Hey, as you might have seen the new release of RapidSVN is out. I am not really satisfied with the quality of this release, mainly because of the open issues (especially for the Mac). But: the last release is more than a year ago and this is way too long. So, I decided not to wait any long and release the pretty good 0.9.8 (pretty good at least for Windows and Linux) to give people a chance to see and use and break the new stuff. The next release 0.10 is going to be in Q2/2009, 0.12 in Q3/2009 no matter if they are feature complete or not. The decision to change to a quicker release cycle was because we are facing the same problems as the Subversion team: they had a feature driven release cycle as we do and since some features took way longer than anticipated the release was delayed and delayed. So, the next releases will be smaller ones. Maybe only with two or three issues being fixed. The release cycle will get only longer if no development takes place at all... This brings me to the next pain in the back: the Mac port of RapidSVN. We are a small team and during the last months even less people have participated by sending patches. Of the people sending patches there were no Mac users or at least there were no patches that fixed Mac issues. This means, the Mac port isnt really supported very well anymore. And if nobody takes up the work it may even fall out of the list of supported platforms (that will bet binary releases). So anybody interested in developing for RapidSVN and especially for Mac, please step up. If there is any issue that keeps you from working on RapidSVN, you dont like specifics about the way stuff is handled here, voice your concerns. They will be heard and be discussed.
