Re: Transforming Spaces Incorrectly / proposed workaround

It seems to me like one gets this behaviour if you browse the repository 
and then use the checkout command (vs. direct input of the URL). So, in 
the checkout dialog you can replace the %20 with a space. This resolved 
it for me.
