Thanks - you're right I didn't take a look at version 1.9. before I asked... For connecting (via 20mA TTY line) to the PCS I'm using still XP (with the reg-patch for getting updates) and therefore 1.8. is installed on this machine... So starting with now, I'll use my WIN 7 machines fo doing the compares with the regex - exactly the solution I looked for...
