Unable to Lock Database

During archiving of our VSS database, I get an error "Unable to read =
file".
According to MSFT's website, that means a network connection failed, =
however, our VSS is NOT on a network. All the more concerning....
So I try to stop the SOS Server via the Services Applet and Lock the =
Database via the VSS Admin GUI, but when I run analyze, I get a message =
that says:
File v:\data\status.dat is already open
Is there some other process/application that I need to stop prior to =
successfully running analyze?
