Re: Access to file rights.dat denied

Hi, Alex,

This error points to a permissions problem. It appears that the SOS server
service does not have access to the drive or directory which holds the
VSS database.

To resolve this error, we recommend the following steps:

1) specify path to 'srcsafe.ini' file in Server Manager using a UNC
     pathname. (The UNC pathname will be used if you browse for the
     'srcsafe.ini' file through Network Neighborhood as opposed to a
     mapped drive).

2) configure the SOS Server service to run as an NT Domain account
     rather than a System Account.  On Windows 2000, go to Control Panel ->
      Administrative tasks -> Services -> SourceOffSite -> (right-click)
      Properties -> Logon... Make sure it is set to a valid network user
     name which is authorized to access the machine/drive/directory of the 
VSS database.  For example:
     domainname\username.

Please let me know if this does not resolve the problem.
