new mac os x 10.2.8 user

Hello

Calling all Mac Blenders. I'm new, and recently downloaded 2.36 and 2.37(a) a couple 
of days ago. 
I use a Mac G4, 768 megs of ram, and I use os x 10.2.8.

Can some one please provide a step-by-step process for getting blender and python 
up and running. So far I've tried the "Fink" option, tried changing the path under user 
prefs under the "I" button, and I've even tried typing in the text window. Nothing 
works so far.

the following is the message that I get when; lets say, I wanna import a Lightwave file, 
or when I choose the help option in the menu.

ERROR: Python script error:check console

Please help, I really wanna use Blender and all of it's features.
