@ m - I never realised that the bugtracker is used for feature requests as well. I will take a look there (after my exams). @ Esben - I understand from your remark that you align objects/edges by using their centerpoint. Sounds like an accurate approach to parallelly align things by pointing their normals in exactly the same direction. Is that possible in Blender? I could not find it in the transform properties box (NKEY). Currently I 'align' things by placing the cursor on a vertex of the edge to which I want to align the second object, then scale in the appropriate viewport the coordinates to 0 (aligning to 3D cursor and using the MMB for aligning along one axis, so two actions needed per viewport). Then I switch to a perpendicular viewport and position the vertex where I want (along the normal axis of the previous viewport). I realise I could achieve something similar by copying the original edge, move it to the required location without rotating it and then scale the appropriate vertices with the method I just described. Neither of them feels accurate. In most CAD apps you select the original, select the target and add a parallel constraint or just press a button for an aligning action. It should be really simple to implement an action that copies the normal vector of the first selected item to the items selected after that first one. I will take a look in the bugtracker for this after my exams. Thanks for the suggestions concerning this aligning problem. I still hope there is something I overlooked in the documentation and that someone will say that there is already an easy way to align things accurately. Next question: Is it possible to move an object by selecting one vertex on it and move that vertex to the exact location of a vertex on another object. I know the Scale to 0 along the 3D cursor method, but that works just for individual vertices. I would like to move a bunch of connected/selected vertices to another location. This translation (no rotation) can be described by the difference of the location between two vertices. The complete original object or just the selected vertices would then be moved according the same dx,dy,dz. In the transform properties I can only find the Median if I select two vertices to determine the dx,dy,dz.
