Hi there K If I recall correctly, the Gus tutorial was written back in the 2.2x times, and yes, the extrusion command has changed a little since then. Back then, by pressing E you would have an immediate extrusion of the selected vertex, edge, face, or region selected, and after extrusion, you would be in unconstrained Drag mode. Now, when you press E, a menu will pop-up asking about what to extrude (faces, region, ...) and right after you make your selection, you will again be in Drag mode, but now it will be constrained to the region, face, edge... Normal direction. For a similar behaviour for the extrusion used in gus' tutorial, you should select E-->Region, then press Escape (or mac's equivalent), and the press D for drag mode.
