Animating individual vertices...

Ive seen some places, but Im not sure about it.
Can I animate individual vertices? Like inserting keyframes for each 
one.
Lets say I have a Plane and I want just one of the corner vertices to 
move somewhere, and keep the other 3 in place, kinda like stretching a 
corner. Can I Do that?

Anyways, I appreciate all the help from this group! Even though I dont 
ever post, I always receive the posts... :)
