Robert, I've been into 3D for years also. I don't say I'm a 3D wizard or 
master or whatever... I'm just trying to be honest with my opinion. And 
trust me, harsh, cruel critics really helps me alot. When I'm a newbie, 
I get alot of harsher and cruel critics than that critic of mine. It 
triggers me to improve myself better and trying not to get laugh at. Do 
I regret that? Nope. Now I'm a 3D  Animation professional. And I said 
thank you for those people who critized me straightly and honestly back 
then. I need critic to realize what flaw my work have. Now I prefer 
honest comments rather than soothing white lies.

Don't blame the critics for discouraging you, blame yourself on how you 
take critics. And as for cmrj_2k, like I said, it's a start. Go out 
often, try out those tutorials out there, ask people, join forums, to 
get you better. Don't give up, and don't be shy to continuously post 
your works everywhere to get comments.
