AFAIK and CMIIW the blender binaries distributed at Blender.org are intended for 32 bit machines. Thus it renders as a 32 bit software and don't use any of the 64 bit features. If you want a 64bit Blender I do think you have to compile it from the source code. As for Yafray, AFAIK yafray only provides 32 bit binaries. Alot of 32 bit softwares will have compatibility problems when running on 64 bit OS. If you want 64 bit you have to compile it from source. This don't just happen in Linux, but also in Windows aswell. I once try to use XP x64 version on my workstation at the office (comes preinstalled from Dell), turns out alot of softwares we use gone nasty and only some of them works well. So I reformat everything and use the regular 32 bit XP. Of course I lost all the 64 bit processing features. But with this kind of compatibility, I rather wait until 64 bit support already wide supported before I use 64 bit OSes. Hope that helps Martin wrote: > Hi, > > Right first off, how are you all hope you had a nice christmas and new > year... > Onto the subject, I'm using blender on fedora 64 and have these > questions : - > > 1.
